( Luther is currently occupying a role somewhere between guest and hostage, politely trapped in the Hargreeves mansion with Sloane watching over him as hostess-slash-jailor. And he’s still convinced his real family will come for him any minute now, but in the meantime, he wanders restlessly. The other Ben had contemptuously tossed him a spare ‘cellular’ phone — “In case one of us needs to reach you, or you get lost in the basement or whatever” — and Luther had caught it, goggle-eyed at the technology.

Something’s gone a little different with the tech in this timeline. He’s never seen a portable telephone like this before, and when he tries sending Sloane a text message with it, he finds that his fingers are too large and clumsy for this tiny, tiny keyboard: )

( Okay. Wait. Try that again. Poking through the settings, he finds autocorrect and turns it on. )

We don’t have phones like this in my timeline.

( A little smile pulls at the corner of her lip as Sloane reads Luther's message. The big, strong boy. Who is he? She doesn't quite know yet. Just feels the soreness in her jaw from his fist, and his earnest apology still lingering like the soft tone of a tuning fork after it's been struck. She finds herself eager to find out. )
